My Gym has created an extraordinary program and facility devised to help children three months to nine years of age develop physically, cognitively and emotionally. Imaginations soar and children triumph at My Gym Children's Fitness Center.

Our structured, age-appropriate weekly classes incorporate music, dance, relays, games, special rides, gymnastics, sports and other original activities. My Gym kids have so much fun as they gain strength, balance, coordination, fine and gross motor proficiency, agility, flexibility and social skills. The most important benefit we offer, however, is the building of confidence and self-esteem.

My Gym's state-of-the-art facility has custom-designed equipment, the configuration of which is changed each week to provide a new and exciting experience for the children. Our extensively trained staff, award-winning class programs and excellent student/teacher ratio have earned My Gym the reputation as the best early learning program of its kind.

HISTORY

My Gym's innovative program and facility were created in 1983 as a collaborative effort by its founders, William Caplin, who opened his first My Gym in Santa Monica, California and Yakov and Susi Sherman, who opened for business in Van Nuys, California. Both partners experienced such great success with their initial My Gyms that they decided to proceed on a course of expansion. The Shermans created two additional facilities, one in Woodland Hills, California and the other in Thousand Oaks, California. Bill Caplin undertook his own expansion program, opening his second My Gym in Beverly Hills, California and then another in Newport Beach, California. Each location flourished!

In 1990, Cory Bertisch and Monique Broulard purchased the Van Nuys My Gym and further developed and refined the original programming and philosophy. Their enrollment grew quickly, making their My Gym a huge success.

Realizing the extraordinary value of the My Gym concept, not only to youngsters but to operators as well, these two young people knew that by spreading My Gyms across the country they could significantly enrich the lives of many. They, together with Jamie Bertisch, Randy Bertish, Arnold Embuido, Gene Barr and the My Gym founders, developed a formula for success to be franchised throughout the United States. Edwin Chavez and Mike Chalovich soon joined this group of talented people to complete this experienced and highly successful management team.

PHILOSOPHY

• Children are the most precious part of our lives and the most valuable resource this planet has.

• Every child deserves to be treated with kindness, patience, love and understanding.

• A youngster's first seven years have a profound influence on the rest of his/her life

• It is imperative that a child develop confidence and self- esteem during these important and formative early years.

• Children are to be seen, heard and believed.

• Youngsters will thrive in a loving and noncompetitive environment where they feel physically and emotionally safe.

• Immediate, positive reinforcement is the most effective means to facilitate a child's learning, comprehension and retention.

• Keeping a very low student/teacher ratio is the only way to provide the individual attention young children require.

• Fun, variety and excitement are crucial elements in motivating youngsters.

• Attitudes toward health and fitness begin forming in the early years.

• Children delight in getting to know and control their own bodies.

• The thrill of accomplishment from achieving a physical task builds self-esteem and confidence that carries over into all aspects of a child's life.

• An active and physically fit youngster is a happy, healthy one.

• There are countless lessons to be learned through structured physical activity when presented in the proper manner.

• Children learn to listen, to follow directions, to be independent and to cooperate in a group.

• They learn self-control and self-discipline.

• They learn to work for a goal and to work hard.

• They acquire social skills and learn more about themselves as they interact with one another and the teachers.

• A child's vocabulary increases and even his/her sense of humor.

• Most important of all, however, is the evolving of a healthy self-image. A child who feels good about him/herself has a jump-start on the path to becoming a happy, well-adjusted adult!
